Sudoku has been updated to version 1.1. If you already have Sudoku 1.00.04 or earlier installed, you can just download and install the new trial and it will update your existing installation. If you have a registered copy, your registration will be retained after the update.
New features:
Grid size for printed puzzles: If you are printing one puzzle on one page, you are no longer confined to the size of grid fixed by the program. Now you can enlarge the size of the grid — even as far as filling the page, if required.
Blank grids: You can now print blank grids. You can choose to print a page full of blank grids, or you can choose to print one blank grid on each page of puzzles.
Selecting a number with the keyboard: You can now choose the selected number directly from the keyboard, even when in mouse-mode.
Your setting for Thick Bars or Thin Bars is now remembered from one session to the next.
ID parades: If you check 'Allow ID parades' on the General 2: Hall of Fame tab of the Game Options dialog, you activate the ID parades feature. Clicking with the left mouse-button anywhere outside the grid (but inside the Sudoku program window) causes all instances of the currently-selected number to be highlighted. The background to each square is highlighted in the color currently selected for Hints. The instances will remain highlighted for as long as you hold the left mouse-button down.
New Pencilmark entry style: The new (4th) pencilmark entry style is called 'Ordinal Matrix'. The pencilmarks will appear in a matrix, as follows:
This means if you enter (say) a pencilmark 6, it will always appear half-way down the right side of the cell. A pencilmark 7 will always appear in the bottom-right corner of a cell. This new style is available only for Classic Sudoku (that is, when there are 9 numbers) and only when the Pencilmark layout is 3x3 (not 2x2).
Bugs fixed:
There was a problem when you simultaneously pressed both the left and right mouse-buttons while over a toolbar button: the program locked up. This has been fixed.
Sometimes the 'Big Number In' sound would stop playing. The problem occurred after you had filled the grid with big numbers, but then (before the answer was submitted) deleted a number or two. When you went to re-fill the emptied squares with a big number, the sound would not play. This has been fixed.
Occasionally, the 'Show Solution' menu option was lit and available, even though no puzzle was on screen. This has been fixed.
In Windows, right-clicking on the Desktop brings up a 'New' context menu and one of the listed options is 'Sudoku document'. However, selecting the Sudoku document would produce no result. Now, clicking on Sudoku document produces a new Sudoku document icon on the desktop, which can be clicked in order to launch the program.
A problem with re-drawing the main window when it was activated while another window partially obscured it, has been fixed.
